The event, organized by Cyber Crime Wing of Tamil Nadu Police

The most awaited 1930 Walkathon has been concluded successfully, marking a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to raise awareness on cyber crimes and reporting of cyber financial frauds. The event, organized by Cyber Crime Wing of Tamil Nadu has attracted around 5000 enthusiastic participants from schools, colleges, local residents, NCC, NSS, etc.

The 1930 Walkathon was designed not only to promote physical fitness but also to shine a spotlight on the critical importance of stay protected from growing cyber threats.
With increasing concerns, this event aimed to educate the public on cyber crimes, and the importance of reaching out Helpline number 1930 on time without any delay.
Around 5000 participants from all walks of life including students of schools, colleges, volunteers from NSS, general public, press people, etc. took part and covered the distance ranging from Chepauk Stadium/Walajah Road (Infront of State Guest House) to Adams Point on Swamy Sivananda Salai via Press Club Road that covers a distance of 1930 metres symbolically indicating the Helpline number.








The gathering was welcomed by Dr. Sandeep Mittal I.P.S., Additional Director General of Police, Cyber Crime Wing. The Keynote Address on the conducting of 1930 Walkathon event was addressed by Tr.Shankar Jiwal I.P.S., Director General of Police/ and Head of Police Force. Followed by that, the 1930 Walkathon was flagged off by Tr.Dheeraj Kumar I.A.S., Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Home, Prohibition and Excise after delivering Special address. The Chief Guest also praised the community for its strong turnout and active participation, stressing that these initiatives play a key role in fostering awareness and encouraging safe cyberspace.







This event marked many initiatives and one among the initiatives is Expansion of the 1930 Cyber Crime Helpline—an initiative that aims to empower individuals to report cyber crimes, receive timely assistance, and protect themselves from harm. Other initiatives include the launch of Cartoon Series “சைபர் குற்றங்களும் தம்பியின் வழிகாட்டலும்” on 30 selected trending Cyber Crimes and that can be downloaded by scanning the QR code (given below), Releasing of Awareness Short Videos and Releasing of Celebrity Film.
One remarkable feature that added value to the Walkathon event is issue of Block Chain Certificates at the finishing point to the participants. The momentum generated by the event is truly remarkable, reflecting the wide-reaching impact of the awareness it aimed to create.
The “1930 Walkathon” is honoured to officially make an entry into World Book of Records, London for being the largest gathering assembling and walking to promote awareness about cyber crime in India. This is a moment of pride for all Walkathon participants and Tamil Nadu Police.
