Additional Director General of Police for the Cyber Crime Wing in Tamil Nadu, Sandeep Mittal, has issued a warning to netizens on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). He cautioned that fake news clippings and ads featuring singer Shreya Ghoshal are surfacing on the platform with sensational headlines and misleading website links. These posts also display the logos of well-known news publications, which could easily deceive people.

The ADGP, Sandeep Mittal, took to X to raise awareness about the issue. He warned, “Verified @X handles, having 10 to 15 followers, promoting Shreya Ghoshal ads are scam traps to lure the public into cyber scams. Be alert, be safe… @X should have a mechanism to detect and block such handles openly indulging in criminal activities.”

Previously, popular singer Shreya Ghoshal took to her Instagram account to inform people that her X account had been hacked. She wrote, “Hello fans and friends. My Twitter/X account has been hacked since February 13th. I have tried everything in my capacity to reach out to the X team. But there has been no response beyond a few auto-generated messages. I am unable to even delete my account since I can’t log in anymore.”

Her statement, along with the warning from the ADGP, urges people to remain cautious and avoid fraudulent links or messages from her compromised account. Apart from Shreya Ghoshal, other celebrities have also fallen victim to cybersecurity breaches. Earlier this year, actor Swara Bhasker and comedian Tanmay Bhat also reported incidents where their X accounts were hacked and used to spread fake links.
