The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Sandeep Mittal, on Tuesday presented cash awards and commendation certificates to the police personnel appreciating their timely contribution to detect cases and seizure of banned substance in Ramanathapuram district.

Lakshmi Kanthan, Sub Inspector, Rameswaram town and K. Ulaganathan, Head Constable were rewarded for detecting around 50 kg of ganja, which was smuggled by a car from Tiruchi. Besides seizing this, the policemen also arrested five smugglers including one Sri Lankan national when the police team stopped the car at Thangatchimadam for check a few days ago.
T. Thillai Raja and S. Soosai Manickam, constables attached to the Special Branch, were honoured by the DIG for the seizure of ganja at Valinokkam.
Similarly, N. Sellapandian, constable of Special Branch, was given commendation certificate for detecting the murder case, in which one Sathmeega Seelan of Pirappanvalasai was murdered by a gang a few days ago.
While appreciating their role in solving the cases, Mr. Mittal said they should continue the good work in future too. The rewards were given to motivate them as well as others. He would continue to meet and appreciate the policemen for their good work.
